This is a Victorian, sterling silver (0.935) open-face pocket watch, made by Ford Galloway & Co., Birmingham in 1889.
DIAL: The silver dial has roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial at the six. The dial has blued hands and an attractive floral design engraved in the centre.
MOVEMENT: The English keywind fusee lever movement is signed FORD GALLOWAY & CO. BIRMINGHAM” and numbered 49632. The movement is in great working condition. However, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch.
CASE: The outer silver case has a smooth finish with a monogram free cartouche. There are two back cases. The first is hallmarked for Chester 1889 and numbered 49632. The second is also hallmarked for Chester 1889, numbered 632 and has the watchmaker’s signature M. A. Cortada.
