Antique American Illinois Steel Art Deco Railway

Pocket Watch USA 1920

An antique American Illinois steel Art Deco railway open face pocket watch, made in the USA in the 1920’s. The pocket watch comes with a railroad FOB: “Union Pacific Railroad, Classic Issue”. Please see pictures!

Dial: The cream enamel dial has thick black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions. The dial has blued hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed in the upper centre: “Illinois”.

Movement: The anchor lever movement has 17 jewels with a swan regulator. The movement is signed: “Illinois Watch Co, Springfield, USA, 17 Jewels” and numbered: 1723799. As this pocket watch has a very high movement and is fully screwed, a watchmaker can make this pocket watch to work with full accuracy! Now the movement is in great working condition; however, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch.

Case: The watch lies in a steel open face case with screw case both back and front with an Art Deco engraved finish and a monogram free cartouche. The inner side of the case is signed: “Scepter” and numbered: 0309926.

Diameter: 49 mm - Weight: 95.6 gr

Signed: Illinois - Made in USA - 1920

Please note: to set the time of watch you need to open the front screw back case and pull out the lever at the one/two and turn the winder to set the correct time.  This method was done specially for the guards travelling on a train for the safety of the people, so that they could keep exactly the accurate time.

Never pull on the winder as this can break the watch!
