Code: Railway9575683
Dimensions:
This is an American Illinois gold-filled railway open-face pocket watch, made in the USA in 1923.
Dial:-
The white enamel dial has thick black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions. The dial has blued hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed in the upper centre "Illinois".
Movement:-
The anchor lever movement has 21 jewels with a swan regulator. The movement is signed: "Bunn Special, Illinois Watch Co, Springfield, 21 Jewels, Adjusted Temp and Six Positions" and numbered 4315443. As this pocket watch has a very high calibre movement and is fully screwed, a watchmaker can make this pocket watch work with full accuracy!
Case:-
The watch lies in a gold-filled open-face case with a screw back front and a smooth finished back. The inner side of the case is signed "Keystone J. Boss, 10K, Gold filled" and numbered 9575683.
Nb: To set the time of the watch you need to open the front screw back case, pull out the lever at the one/two and turn the winder to set the correct time. This method used by the guards travelling on a train so that they could keep the exact time for the safety of the people travelling. Never pull on the winder as this can break the watch.
