Silver Old Cylinder Pocket Watch Chester 1846, As found
You’re bidding on an open face silver pocket watch with an old cylinder movement made and hallmarked for Chester 1846.
DIAL: the dial has black Roman numerals with outer minute divisions. The dial has blued hands and a crack along the middle. There’s no glass which is typical for the start of the 19th century as people then believed that the case gives enough protection to the dial without a glass. this pocket watch is being sold as repair, as found.
MOVEMENT: The old cylinder movement is very rare to find. Please see the pictures. The movement has a diamond end stone and has a broken chain which is for repair. The movement is numbered: '4475'. The movement is signed: 'Edmund Doyle, Kilkenny'.
CASE: The pocket watch lies in a silver smooth case hallmarked for Chester 1846. The case is numbered with the same number as the movement which shows it is all original.
Old cylinder escapements are not so common, as there are the change periods from the verge to the fusses; one can call them the forgotten watches.
