You are bidding on an excellent silver 0.800 keyless wind pocket watch, made in Switzerland in 1890. The all original watch is signed Longines four times: on the dial, on the inside case, on the outside of the cuvette and on the movement which shows that it is all original.

Dial: The white enamel dial has black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions and outer 13-24 hours. The dial has nice golden chased hands and a subsidiary sunken seconds dial at the six. The dial is signed: 'Longines' in the upper centre. The protective glass is in excellent condition.

Movement: The high-grade Swiss made lever escapement movement is clean and in fine working order, it is signed: "Longines", and numbered: 4754049. The watch works well, however we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique watch. Cal No: 19.75 N.

Case: The watch is lying in a silver engine turned case which is stamped 0.800 for silver on the cover and the cuvette. The inner side of the case is signed: 'Longines EFCO' with the logo and numbered: 4754049. The outer side of the cuvette shows different medals and is decoratively signed: 'Longines, 9 Grands Prix, '. The nice engine turned back is monogram free.

Signed: Longines - Diameter: 50mm - Swiss made Circa: 1890

Longines : This world famous watch manufacturer was found in 1867 in the Swiss town of Saint Imier by Ernest Fracillon. The land he purchased for his small factory was known as "Les Longines". Soon afterwards he adopted this name for his celebrated high precision pocket watches. Longines began making wristwatches in the Edwardian era, a golden age of watch making, and their decorative gem-set ladies’ watches won awards at the 1925 Exposition des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. The company is also famous for its highly specialised chronometers and timekeepers, used by pilots and explorers. When Charles Lindbergh first crossed the Atlantic, he had with him a Longines wristwatch showing Greenwich Mean Time and the corresponding local times. Since then the company has continued to expand, at the same time maintaining its reputation for quality movements and classic designs.
