Omega: The watch making firm Omega was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in Le Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. In 1880, it moved to its current location in Bienne, Switzerland. At the beginning, the company was not referred to as Omega. The name was later christened in 1894, when a watch model, the “Omega” was launched. As one of the world’s better known watch companies, they have been the official timekeepers for the Olympic Games, since 1932 and have also been supplying American and Russian astronauts with their “moon watch” since 1965 and 1975 respectively. The firm has been a member of the Swatch Group since 1983.
