Triple Protective Case London 1856

A 19th Century English watchmaker Edward Prior silver verge open face pocket watch; made for the Turkish market in triple silver and tortoiseshell cases with a star of David on the back. The watch is complete with an antique key.

Dial: The white enamel dial has black Turkish index numerals and outer minute divisions. The dial has nice beetle and poker black hands. The protective glass is in good condition. The dial is signed: “Edward Prior, London”.

Movement: The verge movement has engraved small Egyptian tulip pillars with pierced galleries.  Pierced and engraved cock, pierced and engraved foot and plate silver regulator disc with Turkish markings. The movement is in good working condition; however, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch. The movement is signed: “Edward Prior, London” and numbered: 69910.

Case: The open face pocket watch lies in a triple protective case. The case of the pocket watch has a smooth finish and the inner side of the case is hallmarked for Silver London 1856. The first protective case is silver and has nice engravings around the bezel. The second protective case is made of tortoise shell and has lozenges. The third outer protective case has a chiseled conical shape and a star of David engraved on the back. All cases are in very good condition. Please see pictures of all cases.
